Paver Seal Coating

Paver Seal Coating

Your new oasis - we promise!

Congratulations!! You have just built a beautiful home or purchased a home with driveway or pool pavers or maybe a travertine pool deck!!

The biggest question we get is, “Should I seal my pavers?”

The choice is yours!!! However, the price you pay to replace/repair and eventually reinstall is far more expensive than proper maintenance. So, if you don’t mind the sun fade, the weeds and constant battle of mold/algae along with deterioration then let them be!

“Sealing” is the practice of applying a protective coating that can help you avoid staining and discoloration and extend the life of your investment. Protecting your investment properly will give your hardscape 50 years or more with proper care.

Longevity is key with a pricey investment!

  • Let's Talk Travertine

Travertine is a natural and porous stone. As such, it needs to be sealed to protect its natural beauty (not to mention again, your investment) so it doesn’t absorb liquids – think red wine – and become permanently stained. Travertine pavers are among the most popular and beautiful media to choose from when renovating your outdoor living area. Travertine is a natural-looking stone that can be made to fit into any decor scheme, and it’s durable enough to survive the test of years and even decades of wear.

Sealing travertine impregnates the substrate and while moisture can escape and the stone can breathe, proper sealant deters moisture from going in and provides stain resistance. Think of giving that gorgeous flooring extra protection!

  • Stain Protection

Maintaining your pavers with our program every 6 months is like maintaining the oil in your car. In order to get the most miles out of your engine, proper care must be taken. The process we use plus the commercial product we apply gives your pavers additional resistance against substances that can stain and deteriorate the surface.

Have you noticed that when your pavers are wet the water seeps right in? Pavers are porous and if not protected stains easily set in and can be tough to impossible to remove. Most stains have acidic qualities that slowly break down the substrate and in turn start the deterioration process or speed it up.

Preventative measures save you money and time with constant upkeep.

When you hire RipCurrent to seal your pavers, we fill the pores in with polymers, this prevents stains from embedding into the paver. With the water-based sealer we use we are able to re-apply a fresh coat in a few years without the process of stripping.

As the sealer wears away you will notice the water is no longer beading on top like a rain ex effect. When you use our maintenance program, we are able to keep a close eye on our work!

Our sealer soaks into the pores protecting the whole paver!

  • Save Time

Nobody enjoys pulling weeds and weed killers can stain unsealed pavers! Not to mention spraying certain areas with bleach! So, what is a homeowner to do?

In Florida Plants will survive in every crack they can find. Any humid/moist environment! Your paver joints are the perfect place for seeds and weeds to thrive, not to mention that mold again.

When we seal your pavers, we clean out the joints, apply a proper sand and once our water-based sealer is applied that sand is hardened and leaves no room for roots to spread.

Besides reducing the weed population, sealing provides you with more freedom to use most weed killers without worry if/when one pops up here and there or even when using on your lawn you won’t need to worry about staining the pavers.

Sealing also deters ants and other insects that like to make a home in those sandy joints!

  • Easy Clean Up

With lawn maintenance and any yard work it is inevitable that you will have dirt and debris to wash up.

The good news is, if you have sealed pavers, a garden hose and if needed some mild soap is all you will need to make your pavers bright again.

But if your driveway or patio is unsealed, soiled pavers can remain discolored no matter how much you scrub. And steer clear of commercial cleaners at the hardware store that can damage the substrate! A well-intended DYI can make a costly mess! Most homeowners do not put the pavers through a deep clean or even know to do so.

That is why when you hire a professional like us your pavers are treated how they should with a multi-step deep clean and sealed with a two part professional grade water based sealer.

  • Protection from the Harsh SW Florida Weather

Here in Florida, we get our fair share of harsh weather. We deal with heavy rain, hail, and strong winds. Not to mention the harsh hot sun beating down fading your investment.

When the weather is too extreme, we can shelter ourselves. Pavers are made to handle weather but only when treated properly. UV rays from the sun deteriorate, water and wind erode, and the cycle goes on and on.

Sealing also protects from damage that can be caused by salt in a salt generator pool.

  • Algae & Mold Inhibitor

Have you been battling that black/green excessive mold, mildew, or algae that loves to overtake your beautiful pavers and stones?

You are not alone! We have the solution to help!

If you live in the greater Sarasota area, it’s a hot, moist, tropical environment that causes pavers to become the perfect breeding grounds for microorganisms.

In fact, one of the most common concerns expressed by our customers is the mold, mildew, and algae living on their property.

When pavers are sealed they dry much faster and the water is unable to penetrate deep into the stone. This greatly reduces mold and algae. While nothing can eliminate the mold from returning 100%, sealed pavers help prevent mold from reaching deep into the stones making cleanup much easier and more efficient. Most times a garden hose with a little Dawn does the trick!

  • Preferred Sealer Choice

Have you ever seen previously sealed pavers that have a cloudy, white, milky look to them? Maybe yellow and flakey in some areas?

If so, chances are the previous contractor used a solvent or oil-based sealer that failed. Sadly, we see this often.  These contractors we call taillight contractors! They do a bad job, collect your money and drive away never to be seen again!  They have left you with a costly mistake that needs to be fixed.

Solvent sealers fail in Florida because of excessive humidity. They do not allow the paver to breath, overtime trapping moisture. Here in SW Florida we have humidity coming up from the ground as well as down!  Solvent based do not allow the moisture to escape Over time, all that moisture gets trapped under the sealer. The appearance you see is water locked inside pavers. This in turn creates a cloudy, white, and blotchy appearance.

Once sealer fails on your pavers, the only resolution is to chemically strip off the failed sealer. That process is 3-5 times the cost of sealing to restore your pavers! Talk about a costly mistake!

You have achieved the desired look that you have paid a good amount for. An investment that an amateur can ruin in a matter of minutes.  It is key to hire a certified and trained professional in the product they use. Protect pavers with the right sealer, one that will hold up for years.

    Our Sealer is:

Chemical resistant * UV resistant * Salt resistant * Hot tire resistant * Anti Slip
